A high security burglar fire safe is a jewelry-class safe and is designed to protect contents in the range of $30,000 to $1,500,000. They are assigned different ratings from Underwriters Laboratory (U.L.) depending on the type of safe. The experienced U.L. experts use powerful tools such as sledgehammers, power saws, carbide disc cutters, drills and in some cases torches.

High Security Burglar Safe Ratings

• U.L. TL-15 - This label means that the safe successfully resisted entry (opening the door or making a 6" square opening entirely through the door or front face) for a NET working time of 15 minutes. They used common hand tools, drills, punches, hammers and pressure applying devices. NET working time means that when the tool comes off the safe, the clock stops. There are over 50 different types of attacks that can be used to gain entrance into the safe. Usually they only will try 2 or 3 based on what they know about the product. This rating does not mean they successfully broke into the safe in 15 minutes, only that they attempted to.
• U.L. TL-30 - This label is identical to the TL-15 above except that the NET working time is 30 minutes. They are also allowed more tools (abrasive cutting wheels and power saws) to help them gain entrance. Keep in mind that these U.L. engineers have the manufacturing blue prints and can dissemble the safe being tested before the test begins to see how it works. This rating does not mean they successfully broke into the safe in 30 minutes, only that they attempted to.
• U.L. TL-30 x 6 - This label means that the TL-30 (30 minute test) is conducted on all six sides of the safe.
• U.L. TRTL-30 x 6 - This label means that it is tool and torch resistant on all six sides for 30 minutes. 

Besides withstanding these burglar attacks, these high security burglar fire safes offer a one or two hour factory fire rating ensuring protection of the contents from a fire.
